Now available on DVD in the UK, this film by Polish award-winning filmmaker Andrzej Wajda was screened in a total of 12 cinemas in the UK in June, including five venues in London.

Other screens for wartime movie Katyń included Manchester, Bristol, Bradford, Sheffield, Belfast, County Kent, and Cambridge. The move was also screened in other venues through to August 14 and also shown in the Irish capital, Dublin.

Katyń, the certificate 15 film made in 2007, tells the haunting story of the World War II atrocity. Radio ORLA fm is proud to be a media patron for the film's distribution.

Katyń was released in Polish cinemas last year and has since been screened around the world. It has also amassed much recognition and many awards for the account of how at least 22,000 Polish officers and other intelligentsia were murdered on Jozef Stalin's orders in the Soviet forest of Katyń in 1940. The Nazi German forces of Von Paulus uncovered the shallow graves in 1943, and the Soviets for decades later blamed the Nazis. But eventually in 1990 the last Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev admitted the Russians' hands in the intended genocide of Poland's elite.

Now the harrowing story is the subject of a major film by acclaimed Wajda in his first movie in seven years.

Nakręcony w 2007 roku Katyń, to poruszający film przeznaczony dla widzów powyżej 15 roku życia, przedstawiający okrucieństwo drugiej wojny światowej. Radio ORLA jest dumne z faktu, że jest patronem medialnym w dystrybucji filmu.   

Katyń, którego premiera w polskich kinach odbyła się w zeszłym roku, wyświetlany jest w krajach całego świata. Film zdobył uznanie i wiele nagród  za obraz przedstawiający mord około 22 000 polskich oficerów i inteligencji w katyńskim lesie w 1940 roku na rozkaz Józefa Stalina. W 1943 roku żołnierze nazistowskej armii niemieckiej odkryli płytkie groby, po czym przez dekady obarczani byli przez Sowietów winą za zbrodnię. Ostatecznie, w 1990, Michaił Gorbaczow, ostatni przywódca Sowietów, przyznał do udziału Rosjan w zamierzonym ludobójstwie polskiej elity.

Obecnie ta wstrząsająca historia jest tematem jednego z ważniejszych filmów  Wajdy, uznanego reżysera, a zarazem jego pierwszą produkcją od siedmiu lat.
