Alexander Rybak on violin on Eurovision stageAlexander Rybak wins Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow with a record-breaking 387 points for song "Fairytale" - beating a previous record 292 from Finland.

Rybak, who moved to Norway with his parents when aged 4 years from Minsk in Belarus, was watched by 100 million viewers in Europe and was more than 150 votes in front of second-placed Iceland. Britain's Jade was was 5th with "This Is My Time", the highest position since 2002. The new voting system was supposed to prevent political voting, but it appears that people still managed to cross borders to vote for their own nation.

Poland's Lidia Kopania's "I Don't Wanna Leave" was eliminated at the second semi-final earlier in the week.
