More than 500 people attended the first-ever Lednica event in the UK.  It was held at Polish residents home Laxton Hall in Northamptonshire on Saturday September 20, 2008. The weather was superb and Father Jan Góra from Poznan, Poland, came over especially to conduct this Catholic Youth event to the delight of the faithful. Many of those attending said it had the great atmosphere of similar events which have taken place annually in Poland for the past 12 years. A  different type of event is also held in Chicago, USA for the past 3 years and there is the Concordia event in Germany too.

But this was the first time in Britain. People came from as far afield as Bristol, Manchester and London. The event was organised by the Parafia Devonia in London. Organisers were thrilled with the atmosphere and hope that in future years the event will grow to attract thousands as the event does in Poland. ORLA.FM's George Matlock and Monika Kray attended the event as media patrons. A report will follow in our Wiadomosci Polonijne on Tuesday on ORLA.FM.
