British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, whose Labour Party allowed Poles and other new Europe citizens to work in the UK from the start of Poland's admission to the European Union, is tonight preparing to leave Downing Street. Premier since 2007, he has overseen Britain's response to a major global economic recession and his party suffered losses in the May 6 General Election. After attempting this week to win over Liberal Democrats and others to form a government, that is in tatters after Liberals accused Labour of inflexibility in talks. Instead, a larger majority is possible with David Cameron's Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats and it is expected that a decision to appoint him Prime Minister will be taken later this week, ending a week of coalition talks.
