The man arrested and charged for attacking pop star Leona Lewis was named today. Peter Kowalczyk, 29, auditioned unsuccessfully for the new talent X Factor show which Lewis, 24, won in 2006.

Lewis was hit in the head by her assailant earlier this week while signing her autobiography "Dreams" in a branch of Waterstones booksellers in Piccadilly, London

Kowalczyk has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act and is to appear in court later this month. His parents told the London Standard newspaper "he is very sick".
