The public is overcoming its phobia of internet shopping and is looking for online bargains - demonstrating that the cyber world is where it's at for the real economy. A survey by consultants Capgemini UK showed an almost 16 percent jump in sales in one month alone compared with a year ago. One in 15 people made an online purchase during July, a new record. High street shops enjoyed only a 3.3 percent increase as prices were slashed to entice shoppers. The IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales index showed that online sales were no longer jumping by 50 percent but that was a sign the market was maturing and finding its level. It serves as an encouraging sign for online shops and media.
