A house famous for the filming of 1980s and 1990s British television series "Inspector Morse" has been damaged and media report Polish occupants was to blame.
The £2 million TV home of Inspector Morse, played by John Thaw, about a crime investigator based in the university town of Oxford, was in fact in Ealing, west London. Thaw was famous for driving an iconic red Jaguar and the series drew millions of viewers every week on independent channel ITV.
But years after the actor died, the west London home has fallen from better times. A Polish squatter moved into garages last September, but others broke into the house. Media did not identify the nationality of all 15 squatters reported to have lived in the house, but it is understood the house was unsupervised and owned by the mortgage lender, Newcastle Building Society.
The Victorian-era mansion is part of the Castlehill Park Estate, home to Queen Victoria's father, the Duke of Kent. Squatters are said to have stripped the house of its fittings and left the garden full of rubbish.
