Two Polish men who thought they were smuggling cannabis were imprisoned on Thursday for more than ten years in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Why? Because their "poison" was in fact cocaine.
British enforcement agency HM Revenue & Customs told Anglo-Polish Radio ORLA fm that an investigation revealed they had swallowed nearly two kilos of the illegal substance worth around £500,000.
Adam Ruczaj, 28, and Tomasz Ciulwik, 29, were arrested when they arrived at Belfast International Airport from Amsterdam in August 2008. Following questioning they were taken to a nearby hospital where a total of two hundred small packages of cocaine were recovered.
